Folias Duo is pleased to announce the 2023 release of Heartdance, a celebration of the twenty-year artistic and life partnership of flutist Carmen Maret and guitarist Andrew Bergeron, the Michigan-based performer-composer collaboration. Folias Duo will be joined by bassist Sallie Bacon and Michigan mandoliner, Brian Oberlin. Together they will feature duos from each group, music from the new album, and new arrangements for a quartet exploring the sonic possibilities within a modern classical music background, experimenting with Argentine folk, jazz, and world music, engaging both ecological and existential themes.
Sallie Bacon (bass) teams with Brian Oberlin (mandolin) for a unique duo sure to bend your ear. Sallie is a seasoned classical bassist that has performed with orchestras and chamber groups large and small from Georgia to Missouri and Michigan. She achieved her Masters in bass performance from the University of Georgia in 2006. Playing the upper register is Michigan’s Mandoliner, Oberlin. He has professionally been playing swing, bluegrass, classical and original music since 2001 and most recently holds several awards with the Michigan based Bluegrass band, Full Cord.
