Noble Hobo is a Detroit-based, “one-man band” that exposes the subtle complexities of love, loss, acceptance, and grief; performing genuine and compelling, original folk music characterized by dynamic and passionate vocals, captivating storytelling, catchy clawhammer banjo/fingerstyle guitar melodies, and driving percussion.

From Grand Rapids, MI, Brian Oberlin is an internationally acclaimed mandolin player and educator. During his decades long professional career, Brian has been playing swing, bluegrass, and Italian classical as a solo mandolinist and vocalist. Along with the myriad award-winning bands and ensembles he has collaborated with throughout the United States and Europe (Full Cord, Grasshoppah, GER Mandolin Orchestra/Mike Marshall and Twin Mandolin Slingers/Evan J. Marshall), Brian is also the founder/director of the River of the West Mandolin Camp, the Great Lakes Mandolin Camp, the Michigan Mandolin Orchestra and the Oregon Mandolin Orchestra. Of his accolades, his most recent stint was winning the 2022 Telluride band contest at that festival in Colorado, winning the 2022 IBMA momentum band of the year award, all with the band Full Cord, and Brian was a featured song-writer at the 2021 IBMA awards. When he is not performing, Brian teaches music to children and adults at a variety of venues and events around the world. Brian’s website (MandOberlin.com) is a great resource for not only his appearances but features FREE content for budding mandolinists on the Lesson Hub.

Oberlin’s solo shows are unique in that listeners will be immersed in ALL things mandolin; from Italian and modern classical to Brian’s roots of bluegrass and swing to his award winning, multi-genre original music, all with vocals. Listeners can also expect a bit of humor and an educational component about the mandolins he’s playing and their venerable place in mandolin music history.

Illinois-based Shadowfields is a high-energy original art band likened to a journey heading south with front window views of rock-flint touches, panels of torchlight, graceful strings, and a pint of sultry soulful vocals (Tuned Loud). It is the expression of dual lead vocalists, musicians, and band’s main songwriters, Tom McKeown and Heather Humphrey, who have been performing and composing original music together for 15 years. After seven previous albums, the band’s 2024 single releases are further expeditions into Bohemian Americana combining earth-toned acoustic instruments, gutsy rock, melodic expanses with emotional lush arrangements, and lyrics.

Composed of musical professionals, Tom McKeown (lead vocalist, instrumentalist), Heather Humphrey (lead vocalist, piano, flute), Gary Jacklin (vocalist, violin), Tony Meadors (vocalist, electric bass, acoustic bass), and Pat Culligan (drums), the band is unyielding to deliver on musical hooks, deft arrangements, and melodic mash-up the likes of Nickel Creek, Avett Brothers, Mumford and Sons, and Fleetwood Mac.

Shadowfields has toured nationally and internationally, and the Bohemian Americana revival music is in rotation on over 200 U.S., Canadian, and European independent radio stations. Shadowfields has been a featured artist on WXRT Chicago, WGN Chicago with Nick DiGilio, WZRD Chicago, WDCB (College of Dupage, IL), WLUW (College Radio – Loyola), WCSF (Joliet, IL), WXPR Radio (Rhinelander, WI), Iowa National Public Radio, and Fearless Radio.

The band invites you to join them on their journey of musical kinship that is their Bohemian Americana revival.
